Acid Disease Reflux Symptom
The most common digestive system disorder people
experience is heartburn, which is highly associated to
acid reflux disease. Often, many people will encounter
heartburn or acid reflux during night time. When this
happens, a burning sensation in the chest will be felt.
This particular pain is similar to heart attack symptoms.
However, heartburn acid reflux is also a very serious
disease that can affect many individuals including
infants and young children as well as adults. Infants
usually grow out of this condition after time while most
young children will likely experience acid reflux in
their lifetime. Meanwhile, many adults are likely to
experience possible occurrences of this condition due to
lifestyle factors and eating habits, the occurrence of an
acid disease reflux symptom is
higher in over 40,s.

Understand how heartburn
occurs
Understanding how heartburn occurs is essential
to those diagnosed with acid reflux disease. Eating habits
and lifestyle factors should be changed to prevent
heartburn associated to acid reflux disease. As such
eating excessively and the unhealthy food we eat
contribute to stomach acid refluxing into the lower
portion of the esophagus causing possible heartburn to
occur. If this happens on a regular basis the result will
eventually lead to acid reflux disease.
The stomach acid is a highly corrosive liquid
and fortunately the stomach is equipped to handle these
gastric juices. However when the stomach acid touches the
lining of the esophagus, irritation and inflammation of
the esophagus occur, causing heartburn. The abnormal
gastric juice flow is due to either relaxation of the
Lower Esophageal Sphincter, (LES for short), or other
related factors such as structural defects or disorders
like hiatial hernia or lifestyle factors. The Les usually
stops the flow of stomach acid into the esophagus when it
is working properly but if the muscles which it is made
of are relaxed or the contractions of the muscle are
reduced the acid is allowed to reflux back into the
esophagus. Also if a hiatus hernia is present this can
lead to a bulge in the esophageal wall and deformation of
the LES also allowing acid to flow into the esophagus
causing heartburn.
Why is Acid Reflux Wores at
night?
Heartburn or acid reflux needs treatment
especially when a night time attack happens. Night time
attacks have although similar to daytime symptoms vary
because at night attacks include snoring, restlessness,
fatigue and even abnormalities in breathing. Attacks
during the night are more severe than attacks during
daytime because during the day swallowing and gravity
push the acid back down into the stomach but at night
while lying down gravity does not have any effect and
swallowing is at a minimum. So when acid reflux symptoms
occur while asleep, the acid stays in the esophagus
longer and can do much more damage. To combat this you
can use a wedge pillow or bed wedge, to elevate your
sleeping position. Or because acid reflux disease is
usually for life you could but an electrical adjustable
bed which can change your sleeping position whenever you
feel an atack coming on at the touch of a
button.
Many people with heartburn or acid reflux
understand the cause of their condition. However, there
are still many people lacking essential knowledge of how
heartburn acid reflux can be triggered. The simplest
answer is food. Many people experience acid reflux after
having a large meal due to improper breakdown of foods
causing acid reflux to occur. Foods such as spicy foods,
chocolates, fried and fatty foods can trigger this
condition. In fact, even citrus fruits have a tendency to
flare up heartburn.
Heartburn lifestyle
changes
If you have been diagnosed with acid reflux,
you should try preventive heartburn medication and GERD
treatment to help aid in its cure. if you do not want to
use prescription medacine then there are many natural medicines you can
use. One way that can help lessen the occurrences is
by changing your lifestyle. Some change in lifestyle can
really prevent acid reflux symptoms from beginning. Avoid
eating large meals. Instead, eat small meals at more
frequent intervals. Eating large meals can increase
pressure in the esophageal sphincter and at the same time,
expand your stomach. It also means your digestive system
is working overtime to break down the food which produces
more stomach acid. Other preventive measures include
maintaining your weight, avoiding alcoholic beverages, and
not wearing tightly fitted clothes around the waist
because all these factors can cause acid reflux. At night
do not eat at least 2 hours before you go to be and
incline your head and torso when sleeping.
Acid reflux is a common condition that can lead
to severe problems if left untreated. If you are
diagnosed with GERD always take necessary precautions
when experiencing it to avoid further serious problems.
Because acid reflux is a serious problem, people with
heartburn acid reflux should seek advice on how to
prevent and treat this particular condition. By
prevention your acid disease reflux
symptom may be avoided or at least
minimized.
